My final project for ICT for the year 2018-2019! Since we had free range over what to do – with the only rule being that it had to be approved – I chose to make a video about someone who means a lot to me – my mom. The song in the background is Hawak Kamay by Yeng Constantino, a Filipino singer. She wrote the song at age 14, channeling her feelings after a cousin left their hometown to live far away. In Tagalog, ‘Hawak Kamay’ means to hold hands. In the song, there is a line that goes ‘Hawak Kamay, di kita iiwan sa pag lakbay’ which roughly translates to ‘Hold my hand, I’ll never leave you during our journey’ which, for me, basically means to stay by their side forever. Since my mom travels with my sister and I a lot, I thought this song would be perfect to match with a video. Originally, I was going to do a cover, however, I realized I’m not as talented in the music area, so I looked around to see if I could use the song, and apparently, according to Youtube, I can.
Additionally, I used Video Star to edit. It was quite difficult, seeing as I usually edit with Cute Cut Pro on my phone, but I managed to make it work. I feel as if I could’ve done better, if I had more time to explore the app. But seeing this video put together, knowing I did my best, I’m quite satisfied with the results. There are a few things I would’ve changed, but failed to figure out how to edit them. I would probably continue using Video Star if they had better tutorials.
Finally, the pictures. As I stated before, I travel with my mom a lot. It’s tiring, but worth it. Everyday is like an adventure with her. So, I thought, why not take one of our biggest adventures and combine it with our most recent one? So I went back to the summer before fifth grade, and reminisced our first trip as a family to the USA, or, better yet, Disneyland. In short, I stalked my mom’s Facebook account for pictures that I at least looked half decent in.
That’s it! I hope you enjoyed the video! 🙂
